Llancayo House is a grade II listed Georgian mansion offering luxurious, four star bed and breakfast accommodation in the scenic Usk Valley. The property is newly reopened following an extensive refurbishment and is beautifully set in its own grounds with a spinney, orchard and five acre paddock. This is the ideal location from which to explore the magnificent Welsh countryside, whilst having easy road access to the nearby cities of Newport and Cardiff and historic towns such as Abergavenny and Monmouth.

There are plentiful opportunities for outdoor activities in the area surrounding Llancayo House and this area of South Wales is a mecca for golfing enthusiasts, and the Celtic Manor Resort - host of the 2010 Ryder Cup - can be found nearby. The River Usk is just a short walk from here and is said by some to be the best river for fly fishing within two and a half hours of London. Guests of Llancayo House enjoy a free day pass to the nearby Esporta Health and Fitness Club which boasts a 25 metre swimming pool and a state of the art gym and fitness centre. We have a large paddock and stables and it is possible, by prior arrangement, to bring your horse on holiday with you. There are many scenic bridle paths and other routes to enjoy in the local area.

Rooms Description

All guest rooms have been completely renovated with varnished original wooden floors and offer en suite facilities, with either a view of the paddock or nearby Llancayo windmill. Each room is complete with a fridge, radio/alarm with iPod dock, telephone, broadband Internet connection and a full HD flat screen LD TV with Freeview and built in DVD player. There are a choice of king size, twin, superior king and triple rooms with full disabled/wheelchair friendly facilities available. Llancayo House is in the unusual and fortunate position of being a Grade II Listed Building with a fully operating platform lift, which allows access for wheelchair users, or those who have difficulty with stairs, to all of our guest rooms. Two of our bedrooms have adjoining wheel-in 'wet' shower rooms. These rooms are fully wheelchair accessible, without any thresholds to negotiate. The bathrooms are designed for persons with impaired vision, with colour contrasting arm rails. The bedrooms and bathrooms have emergency-alarmed pull cords in three locations, should you require any assistance day or night. Our fully disabled access bedrooms themselves contain a double bed and a single bed. In one room, the single bed is a hospital bed with remote control adjustable height and head/foot reclining positions. The fire alarm in both rooms is set next to a strobe light to warn any guests with impaired hearing. In addition we provide a vibrating pad that any such guests can place under their pillows at night (in the event of a fire the pad will vibrate to alert such guests).

Specialities

As one of our family members uses a wheelchair, we fully appreciate the need for high quality and suitable accommodation which is accessible for wheelchair users. With this in mind, we have installed a lift which provides access to the guest rooms on the first and second floors. Also, two of our rooms have full disabled facilities with alarm pulls and adjoining 'wet rooms' with wheel-in showers.
