Broadley Farm Cottages - Llanthony

Two self catering holiday cottages on a hillside farm overlooking Llanthony Valley, nr Abergavenny, superb views across the valley, starlit nights are magical.

Broadley Barn Cottages are located on a tranquil hillside farm, with spectacular views overlooking the Llanthony Valley. This is near Abergavenny in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The ruins of a 12th Century priory lie close by and Offa's Dyke footpath runs along the hill directly behind the farm. This is perfect walking, cycling and pony trekking country, all of which can be enjoyed locally. It's just a short walk to two local inns serving good food and traditional ale, one of which is situated in the cellars of the ancient priory! The ever changing landscape has inspired many artists and art courses are run on a regular basis from the workshop on the farm.

The two cottages have each been awarded three stars by the Wales Tourist Board and are available for long or short breaks. They have been converted from a traditional stone barn and much of the original timber and stone has been kept, ensuring that the property retains much of its original character. Each enjoys spectacular views of the valley and there are outdoor tables, seating and a barbecue for al fresco meals on warmer evenings. This is the ideal destination for a couple or small family holidaying together.

Rooms Description

Oak Cottage sleeps 2/3 people and is open plan in design. It comprises of a well equipped kitchen with cooker and fridge; a double bed and comfortable single sofa bed and an excellent shower room with WC. There is a lovely oak floor, underfloor heating and a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in. Flagstone is the larger of the two cottages and is bright and cosy with a large fireplace and heated flagstone floor. It comprises of a well equipped kitchen with integrated fridge and cooker; a bedroom with large double bed; two children's beds in the gallery above; a single bed in the living room and an attractive bathroom. Outside there is a pretty cobbled garden, perfect for breakfast.

Specialities

This area is most enjoyed for walking in the beautiful hills and visiting the market towns of Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye. There are many castles and beautiful old churches,excellent restaurants and attractive Inns. There is an Art Gallery on the premises at Broadley Farm,and a studio where Art Courses take place.There is a Piano in the Art Gallery which is avialable for guests to play. Dogs are welcome in Flagstone Cottage. Stacks of wood are available for the log fires. Friendly chickens on the farm and eggs usually for sale.

Directions

From Abergavenny, take the A465 towards Hereford. After about three miles turn left at the sign for Crucorney/ Llanthony . Turn left again immediately after the ‘Skirrid Inn’ and follow the road up the Valley for five miles. Go through Llanthony and just past the Half Moon Hotel bear right up a no-through-road. Broadley Farm is half a mile up this lane on the right hand side
