The farm backs onto open country with footpaths, bridleways and mountain bike trails.Blaen-nant-y-groes farm cottages are a collection of adjoining stone self catering cottages and studios set in fifteen acres of grazing upland and woodland. The cottages are superbly located on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park and the town of Aberdare, with a collection of shops, is just five minutes away. Swansea and the Gower coast are 40 minutes drive. Cardiff, the Millenium Centre and Stadium are 30 minutes drive and both Cwmbach and Aberdare railway stations are 5 minutes away with trains every 30 minutes to the capital. The market town of Brecon with its international jazz festival, agricultural and farmers market and antique shops, is 30 minutes away.
There are a host of outdoor activities available in the locality, including fresh water fishing and golf. Europe's biggets indoor climbing and indoor pot hole are just down the road at the Welsh International Climbing Centre at Trelewis. There is direct access to open countryside from the farm with a network of footpaths, bridleways and mountain bike trails. Behind the farm is a three acre broadleaf wood and open fields which border the 'nant' (stream) which supplies our water. Conifer forests gradually give way to the upland splendour of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Residents are able to enjoy this private wood which has direct access to the upland areas behind the farm which are classified "open country".
