For those who love birdwatching, the Ynys Hir nature reserve is just a short walk away. Six miles east is Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales and home to Y Tabernacle and the Museum of Modern Art. To the West is Cardigan Bay much of which is designated Heritage Coast. The Dyfi National Nature Reserve with it's spectacular sand dunes at Ynyslas again only six miles from Plas Mawr is an ideal place to spend the day by the Sea or start a walk on the the Ceredigion Coast Path .
