Upper Red House is situated at the end of a country lane in the middle of the Monmouthshire countryside. The farmhouse enjoys lovely views of the friendly animals, ponds, streams, orchards, woods and wildlife and is wonderfully set next to Offa's Dyke Path, making this the ideal location for walkers. Little is known about the origins of the house but it was built at a time when farming was much more prosperous and when we first bought the place little had altered since the 17th century.
Our existing woods have been fenced to prevent grazing and allow natural regeneration. We have planted four and a half acres of new woodland and nearly two and a half miles of hedge have been restored. In 2001 the farm became organic and we now grow organic spring cereals for seed and leave fallow strips for general wildlife while the crops are growing. Most of the farm is permanent pasture, partly grazed and partly managed as traditional hay meadows. Visitors are welcome to book a farm visit to learn more about organic methods.
