The SHIPPON ( 1-bedroom, sleeps 2 + sofa bed) is an old farm building used to winter cattle that has been converted into an attractive, light and airy single storey cottage designed for wheelchair users as well as the able-bodied. The main room (20x14ft) is a large open-plan, high-ceiling kitchen/living room, the lounge area has a sofa (which converts to an extra bed) a tub armchair, TV/DVD/CD and large oak French windows which give onto the accessible patio and private lawned garden, raised herb borders and superb views of the gorgeous countryside and sunsets. The kitchen is fully fitted with all modern appliances including dishwasher and washing machine and there is a dining table and chairs. The bedroom has a quality double bed, all the usual furniture and space to manoeuvre as well as adoor to the outside. The large and stylish en-suite wet room has power shower, an oak shower seat and carved oak handrails and wall-mounted sink with paddle taps. Cot and highchair provided on request.

On the same non-working farm as the Farmhouse at Bryn Halen Mawr, the hustle and bustle are left far behind and the profound peace and quiet gives the place a magical quality. There are many places to visit in the immediate local area,from falconry displays at Pen-y-Bryn to accessible walks at Lake Brenig. Guests have chosen Bryn Halen Mawr as an ideal base for exploring the whole of North Wales from historic Machynlleth and Caernarfon to the beaches of Llyn and Anglesey. Shrewsbury and Chester are both within easy reach. Leisure activities available in the wider local area include walking, watersports, mountain biking, yoga, golf, horse riding and fishing. One of Britain's best country towns, Ruthin, is a short drive and has good restaurants etc and all you need.

Rooms Description

The Shippon is wheelchair friendly with ramps, level wooden floors and internal sliding doors which are easy to operate. The bathroom features handrails and a shower with no step and a seat. There is a level parking spot right outside the front door. An assessment of the disabled access has been done by the charity Disabled Holiday Information. Bryn Halen Mawr's speciality is the location: an undiscovered area of North Wales, away from the madding crowd, yet easily reached, providing scenery of unsurpassed beauty and interest. Lakes, forest, moors, streams, empty roads and walks on which you will see not a soul, while others crowd the car parks of Snowdonia. Bed linen and towels are provided. These are non-smoking cottages. Well-behaved dogs are welcome subject to conditions.
