Have you ever fancied spending your holiday in an 800 year old manor house previously owned by Henry VIII? Well now you can! Llanthony Secunda Manor is situated in the sleepy village of Caldicot where you have easy access to explore both England and Wales. In this glorious holiday home steeped in history, you can expect to step back into medieval times and take in the breathtaking property with heavy oak doors, tapestries, ancient stone walls, stone spiral staircases, open log fires, bread ovens, four poster beds and spectacular antiques. For those of you who love your creature comforts, there is no need to worry as modern facilities have been cleverly incorporated so that the ancient atmosphere is retained. The kitchen is beautiful and fully equipped but if you fancy a meal out, The Castle Inn is just 100 yards from the manor!

If history is your passion, Caldicot is perfect for you. Visit Caldicot Castle, Caerwent Roman Town, Chepstow Castle, Cearleon Roman Legion Fortress, Caerphilly Castle, Tredegar House, Cosmeston Medieval Village and Cardiff Castle. If you are looking for a more action packed holiday then Chepstow Activity Centre offers quad biking, 4x4 driving, paint balling, combat laser games and sphere mania. There are also several places for fishing and golfing and other days out can include Clearwell Caves, Chepstow Racecourse and the Forest of Dean Railway. Bristol is only a 20 minute drive, Cardiff is just half an hour away and a tiny bit further is the Roman city of Bath. How on Earth will you fit it all in?

Rooms Description

All rooms have at least one radiator that is thermostatically controlled to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There is a relaxing and comfortable lounge with flat screen television with satellite, DVD player, broadband Internet connection and a variety of board games, DVDs and books. The period kitchen is stunning and includes an easy to use electric range cooker. Additionally there is an American style fridge/freezer with ice maker, as well as a dishwasher, microwave, blender, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. There are two full bathrooms each with roll-top baths with showers. There are four bedrooms in total which comprise of two large master bedrooms with king size four poster medieval carved beds and en-suite facilities. The third bedroom has a king size bed on a handcarved frame and the last bedroom has a single bed with basin and mirror. An extra bed can be added to each of the bedrooms if required, therefore enabling the manor to sleep 11 people.

Specialities

A welcome package is provided consisting of Starbucks ground coffee, Earl Grey tea and biscuits. If you would like any grocery shopping arranged in advance, please ask. There are other optional extras for an additional charge including wine, champagne and chocolates. The gardens are ample for a barbecue and there is plenty of outdoor furniture for those warmer evenings. And for the young and young at heart there is even an Olympic quality trampoline. For the little ones there is a children's play area and large play house.
