Sitting within the original castle walls the cottage has been newly refurnished throughout and now offers a comfortable space with a contemporary feel. Enjoy drinks in the private enclosed garden with decked area and quality furniture, a safe place for children to play. Els Cottage enjoys a quiet location yet is still within the town, offering peace, tranquility and convenience, what more could you need.

Hay-on-Wye dates from the 7th Century with its medieval bridge crossing the River Wye and boasts one of the oldest cathedrals in England dating back to 1079AD. The town itself is a mecca for book lovers with over 30 second hand bookshops. You'll also find a great selection of pubs, restaurants, individual shops and outdoor specialists. Located on the East bank of the River Wye, this town is a magnet for active holidaymakers who come to canoe the river. Canoes and safety equipment are readily available for hire with pick up service included. Alternatively, head on down to the Black Mountain Activity Centre and take your pick from cycling, mountain climbing, abseiling, raft building or gorge walking. Pony trekking and fishing are also available in the area. Lying on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park with its remote wilderness, ancient woodland, waterfalls and caves to satisfy even the most experienced walker.
