A comfortable self catering holiday home in a quiet location in the coast town of Harlech, famed for it wide sandy beach & imposing castle. Sleeps 5 in 3 rooms

36 Glan Gors is a comfortable, quiet, non-smoking holiday home set in historic Harlech in Snowdonia. As well as being a holiday let, it is our own holiday home which we use frequently, so we have tried to ensure that we have the same comforts there as at home. Harlech is village sized and the main street with its selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs is nearby. About 5 minutes walk away is a pub/restaurant, convenience store & chip shop. As it is a ground floor property there is easy access inside for those who are less mobile. The estate is well spaced, with communal lawns between the properties. You may sit out anywhere in these lawns, on the fixed benches or use the folding chairs or recliners which are provided in the flat. From the front of the property there are views of the hills above Harlech as well of Harlech itself, most noticeably the castle which has helped to make Harlech a World Heritage Site.

The estate is about 5 minutes walk from Harlech railway station (on the Cambrian coast line) and the Barmouth to Maentwrog bus stops at the entrance to the estate. The property is within walking distance of Harlech beach (there is also a large car park at the beach) which is wide, sandy and very safe, ideal for children. Along the coast there are several other large sandy beaches. The popular Royal St David's golf course is about a 5 minute walk away, literally just along the road. Visitors are welcome to play on this championship level course provided they meet the club's handicap requirements. The area is excellent for walkers, both for gentle strolling & for more serious mountain climbing, either in the heart of Snowdonia or on the Rhinogydd a few miles behind Harlech. Maps suitable for walkers are available in the property. Supermarkets and more shops & eating places are to be found in Barmouth and Porthmadog, about 8 miles South & North of Harlech respectively. We are happy to take a well behaved adult dog so long as the owners bring its own bed & don't allow it onto chairs or beds.

Rooms Description

36 Glans Gors has 3 bedrooms (1king, 1 double, 1 single) a lounge/dining room (with a new suite in Nov 09), kitchen and a shower room. Heating is by storage heaters, wall mounted panel heaters & also free standing electric heaters. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine. There is more than enough crockery & cutlery for 5 people. The shower produces plenty of hot water on demand with more than adequate water pressure. TV programmes are delivered by a communal aerial and the area is now digital. Freeview channels are available, and there is a video & DVD as well. There is a small selection of videos, dvds, books, cards, & various board games. The price is inclusive of electricity, bedding & towels (but please bring your own beach towels).

Specialities

We provide all bedding, towels (except beach towels) & tea towels so you don't have to bring them with you. However if you prefer to bring your own bedding & towels we will deduct 10% from the rental price. Electricity is included in the cost of the rental. (Property is all electric). We can usually arrange a late booking, please enquire. Ideally, in the colder months, please book more than 24 hours in advance so that we can get the storage heaters on for you.

Directions

BY CAR. From the north take the A496 from Maentwrog & take a right turn (still the A496) after you go through the village of Talsarnau. As you enter lower Harlech the Morfa garage (Texaco) is on the left hand side of the road and immediately opposite this is the right turn into Glan Gors estate. From the south via Barmouth: go north on the A496 & about 2 miles after passing through Llanbedr follow the road downhill , past Royal St David’s golf course on your left & then over the railway crossing. The Morfa garage is on your right hand side & you turn left into the estate opposite this garage. Turn into the car park on the left that has a large tree by its entrance & park there. In the far corner of the car park there is a path heading in the direction of the school playing field fence. This leads to number 36, which is the ground floor property nearest to the fence. BY TRAIN Harlech is on the Cambrian coast line, with some direct connections from Birmingham. Go onto the main road, cross & turn to the right. Glan Gors estate is about 5 minutes walk, just past the school field & the property can be reached by walking along the path which is a left turn immediately after the school field. By BUS Buses (38) from Barmouth stop at the front of the estate. There is an express bus (X94) that runs from Wrexham to Barmouth.
