Snowdonia National Park attracts climbers and walkers from all over the world and has hundreds of paths of varying degrees of difficulty. Take the cog railway to the top of Snowdon from the lakeside town of Llanberis, or take one of the well documented footpaths to the summit if you are feeling a bit more energetic, and visit the new £8m Snowdon Summit Visitor Centre. Betws-y-Coed has a fine array of friendly pubs and quality restaurants in addition to some excellent shops specialising in Welsh crafts and produce. Heading to the coast, the town of Harlech is dominated by the spectacularly sited 13th century castle, with views over Cardigan Bay and towards the Llyn Peninsula. Between the sand dunes and the town lie the championship links of the Royal St. David’s Golf Club, founded in 1894. After discovering the local area the award-winning Castle Cottage Restaurant makes a perfect end to the day. Other attractions include the Italianate village of Portmeirion near Porthmadog, made famous in the cult 60's TV series, 'The Prisoner'.
