Learn to surf, horse ride, coasteer, wind surf, climb or how about a spot of caving. Group accommodation is often all inclusive in these family or extreme sport adventure activity centres.

The choice of cheap hostel accommodation in Wales is the best, ranging from a choice of Youth Hostels to cheap self catering bunkhouses often located near top outdoor activity locations like surfing at New Quay on Cardigan Bay, Walking in Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons, Coasteering (if you dare) off the Pembrokeshire coast or wind surfing on the Milford Haven estuary. Cheap Wales hostels make the perfect budget holiday accommodation base, not just for young groups and stag and hen weekends, but for families too. Youth hostels often offer family rooms.

If you're looking for a cheap city base in Cardiff then the Backpacker hostel in the heart of Cardiff will suit you well. (Cardiff University also offers cheap accommodation). The Gower Peninsula has a good choice of cheap bunkhouse accommodation, noticeably at Rhossill and Llangennith near the beach! (good news for surfers that one)

The Brecon Beacons is particularly well served with cheap group bunkhouse accommodation, and find more bunkhouses around Llandovery, Caernarfon, Betws-y-Coed, Abergavenny, and a good choice of bunkhouse accommodation right near Mount Snowdon. Wales Outdoor Activity Centres

Wales is the home of outdoor activities and adventure holidays, with a range of sports and watersports available. Activity holiday centres abound, particularly around the national parks, Pembrokeshire and top surfing hotspots including Cardigan Bay and the Gower and Swansea Bay.

The Welsh Tourist Board inspects Wales Activity Holiday centres (look for the logo). Operators featuring under the scehme have been inspected under the WTB's accreditation scheme for activities and have a statutory licence from the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA). Alternatively, the Activity Centre will have been approved by a recognised National Governing Body of Sport or Trade (for example the British Surfing Association/BSA).

You've every possible activity centre you can think of here in Wales, from top surfing school centres, to riding school group holiday accommodation, to climbing and walking centres. Learn to kite surf on the Pembrokeshire coast, hop on your mountain bike in the Brecons, Snowdonia or at Afan Forest Park, of combine multi activities at many centres sampling walking, pony-trekking, quad-biking, fishing, kite surfing, caving, abseiling and more. For white water rafting centres look to white water rafting hotspots such as Llangollen in North Wales on the River Dee. For canoeing family holidays the River Wye couldn't be better, and a number of activity centres can be found around Hay on Wye and Ross on Wye.
