Ross-on-Wye Books, Town Guide and River Wye Cruises

Ancient market town Ross-on-Wye is a charming small town situated alongside the River Wye. There's something for everyone here in Ross on Wye, from family canoeing or kayaking holidays on the River Wye, to historical touring of the town (note the striking 13th century St Mary's Church - its iconic tall spire is a feature of the town) which has an informative heritage centre set in a Market House dating from 1650.

Family holiday attractions abound in the town and surrounds, including a giant maze, a butterfly zoo and river cruises. Fishing, riverbank walking and the Ross Regatta also pull in the crowds to beautiful Ross-on-Wye - more old English/Herefordshire than Welsh.

The Symonds Yat stretch of the river Wye is particularly scenic, and the best way to enjoy it is via a river cruise! Kingfisher Cruises run regular river trips starting from Symonds Yat East. Trips run for about 40 minutes, taking in Ross-on-Wye village from the water and the Symonds Yat gorge. On board you get all in commentary during the cruise, plus refreshments available. Evening trips can also be booked. The Kingfisher seats 32 people and the Wye Pride seats 50. Trips from from March through to the end of October. Phone for details below.
