Sandy beaches at Newborough Warren on Anglesey
Wildlife-rich sand dunes at Newborough with views over to SnowdoniaIf you prefer beaches to Megaliths you're in for a beach fest on Anglesey. Plenty of sublime beaches to choose from to suit all tastes. For a good choice of watersports and plenty of bustle choose the beach areas of Holyhead, Beaumaris and Rhosneigr. You'll find stunning endless golden sandy beaches at Benllech (east coast - checkout neighbouring Red Wharf Bay too), Llanddwyn Bay (South West), and Cemaes Bay on the North Coast.
Cove beaches abound at Cable Bay, Porth Cwyfan, Moelfre and Porth Swtan. Anglesey has over 125 miles of coastline, and the majority of it has been designated n Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. No less than 26 of Anglesey's beaches have awards for excellence! Beaches at Benllech, Llanddona, Llanddwyn, Newborough, Trearddur Bay and Porth Dafarch are all Blue Flag beaches on Anglesey. Anglesey is a superb spot for Watersports, including surfing, diving, fishing, sailing and of course swimming in one of it's many award winning beaches. Diving is particularly popular, and numerous wrecks around the Anglesey coast make for superb diving territory. Checkout Dive Anglesey's weblink right for details of course. They're based in Holyhead. There are four sailing and Yacht Clubs dotted around the coast. Head for key watersports centre on Anglesey at Beaumaris, Holyhead, Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr. Windsurfing and Surfing conditions are superb at Rhosneigr on Anglesey's west coast particularly (see weblink right). Checkout both Traeth Crigyll or Town Beach at Rhosneigr for superb windsurfing, and checkout Broad Beach for surfing. Near Rhosneigr are other surfing hotspots such as Cable Bay and Porth Tyn Twyn!
