It's not all ferries and ports in Holyhead. Birdwatching fans will be well aware that pushing up to the South Stack Cliffs beyond Holyhead offers superb opportunities to view puffins, razorbills, peregrnes, choughs and guillemots. You've different seasonal highlights here on South Stack - different birds arrive for feeding at different times. The puffins are there in Spring and early summer. Check the RSPB weblink right for the full list of seasonal birding highlights.
All of the South Stack area is a nature reserve, with a choice of nature trails branching out around the RSPB information centre at Ellins Tower (you can hire binoculars here!) Enjoy a mix of coastal and heathland terrain on these trails. The ancient Holyhead Mountain Hut Group is also up this way, as well as a selection of standing stones!
Trearddur Bay's beach is considered one of Anglesey's best beaches. Trearddur is a blue flag beach offering lots of watersprots opportunities including canoeing, surfing and water skiing. Beautiful endless golden sands on this Anglesey beach, especially at low tide!
