Pembrokeshire Holidays

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park consists of 230 square miles is stunning, mostly cliff coastal scenery with heath, beaches and bays and offshore islands, and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path (one of the UK's 18 official National Trials) winds its way around the Pembrokeshire coast for 186 miles. The Pembrokeshire Coastline is renowned for its varied and rich wildlife - birds are in abundance including puffins, Manx shearwaters and guillemots.

Welcome to Pembrokeshire, West Wales - an area in the UK renowned for its favoured conditions for extreme watersports including surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing and coasteering. Why is it so perfect? Well, the Atlantic swell hit the Pembrokeshire coast full on, and combine this with superb clean waters and long golden sandy beaches and you have the perfect conditions for surfing particularly.

Waves that hit the Pembrokeshire coast have travelled far across the Atlantic ocean. Unobstructed South West facing beaches on the Pembrokeshire coast have the most powerful rollers, whereas more sheltered south east facing beaches are more sheltered (the slightly more sheltered beaches are favoured by windsurfers).

Carmarthenshire Breaks

It's true what they say about Carmarthenshire - it's green, rural and garden like, with gentle rolling countryside and a beautifully sheltered coastline which includes the River Towy estuary. Stunning woodland parks are also dotted about this South Wales county - one of the best is Dinefwr near Llandeilo (which includes the striking Newton House and fairly intact ruins of Dinefwr Castle).

Carmarthenshire is also home to the celebrated National Botanic Garden of Wales - a mini Eden Project if you like, opened in 2000 and mixing traditional Welsh flora with Mediterranean flora an creative landscaping (see the Carmarthenshire Gardens weblink right for more details).

Carmarthenshire is blessed too with some dramatic castles such as Kidwelly, Laugharne castle which overlooks the Towy (Tywi) river estuary and the crowning glory of Welsh Castles, the beautifully situated Carreg Cennen. Pretty market towns such as Llandeilo (home of specialist clothes maker Toast) and the main hub Carmarthen itself offers some delightful specialist shopping opportunities, as well as choice country pubs and real ale! Gardens, pretty market towns, a sublime coastline and walking, fishing and cycling opportunities galore - Carmarthenshire has much to offer the visitor.
